Kimkhab Brocade is a class of richly decorative shuttle woven fabric. It is heavy design brocade. Often made in colored silks. It is a supplementary weft technique. It is used in designing dresses and for upholstery. During the Mughal period (1556–1707), when kimkhwab was extremely popular with the rich, the great centres of brocade weaving were Benares (Varanasi).
